Paint Branch High School, Academy of Science and Media, a Montgomery County, Maryland public school, opened in the fall of 1969. Paint Branch maintains a comprehensive four-year curriculum including Advanced Placement college level courses, Honors courses and Special Education programs. Additionally Paint Branch offers an innovative whole-school Science and Media Signature Program which enhances and extends the high school curriculum. Paint Branch's award winning Media Program and teachers, provide a wide range of media electives. Required courses have a variety of activities which infuse media skills and concepts throughout the courses. Courses include: Advanced Television Production, Radio History & Technology, Animation, Journalism-Editing/News Production , Journalism-Advanced Techniques, Yearbook, Literary Magazine, Digital Art, Visual Communication, Electronic Music (in MIDI lab), Photography, Commercial Art, and Computer Applications in Media and Research. In Science, Paint Branch provides a wide range of science and health occupation courses, programs and activities. Paint Branch offers advanced courses in many subjects including Physics 9, Medical Careers, Molecular Biology, Engineering Science, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, as well as a Professional Restaurant Management program.
